Integretional loop

An integration of approaches seems to have the greatest potential for answering the research questions in environmental health research. Although most studies follow the exposome definition from Wild, the categorisation and operationalisation of the concept are evolving with the inclusion of other domains of exposures e.g., working life exposome, the pregnancy exposome or the urban exposome and of different omics (e.g., adductomics, …). Researchers also use different approaches to the environmental-health linkages in exposome research. Some suggest departing from the characterisation of the external exposome while others depart from the measurement of the internal exposome with indicators in biospecimens.
