What is the overall aim of Equal-Life?

The Equal-Life project is about the effect of early physical and social exposure on children’s mental health and cognitive development later on.

All these exposures together we call the exposome. The first few years in the life of a child are important for mental illness and their cognitive development and later life. The possible outcomes include diagnosed disorders, symptoms and behaviour, well-being, cognitive outcomes, school success, and the ability to cope with future health problems. The project aims to gain insight into which and how these exposures are linked to mental health and cognitive development outcomes in children and based on these develop interventions and guiding approaches to improve environments for all children to grow up.
